About:
“Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1” is the official soundtrack album for the Marvel Studios film
Guardians of the Galaxy, released by
Hollywood Records. In the movie’s storyline, the cassette tape is Peter Quill’s (Star-Lord) most prized possession—a custom mixtape given to him by his mother before she passed away, containing her favourite songs from the 1960s and 1970s.
The physical cassette release features a clear tape casing styled exactly like the iconic mixtape from the film. Upon its release, it became a massive commercial success and made history as the first soundtrack album composed entirely of previously released songs to reach number one on the US Billboard 200 chart.
