About:

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2” is the second official soundtrack compilation for the Marvel Studios franchise. Released by Hollywood Records in April 2017, this album mirrors the new cassette mixtape that Peter Quill inherits from his mother. It sold roughly 600,000 copies in 2017, ending the year as the eighth best-selling album in the United States.
While Vol. 1 relied on breezy radio hits, Vol. 2 leans into a blend of soul, yacht rock, and late-seventies pop. The songs are selected to match the film’s deeper themes regarding families, fathers, and sons. The physical cassette release keeps up the film’s retro vibe and features 14 tracks split across two sides.
