The Beatles’ Past Masters is a vital double-LP compilation that brings together every commercially released track by the band that did not originally appear on their 12 core UK studio albums or the Magical Mystery Tour LP.
The definitive modern vinyl edition—released in 2012 on 180-gram audiophile vinyl—uses the acclaimed 2009 digital remasters. It unifies the original 1988 Volume One and Volume Two into a single cohesive package.
It features a premium, high-gloss black gatefold sleeve with the iconic minimalist Beatles logo. The interior showcases a classic wide-angle photograph of the band with their instruments. The vinyl set includes a 4-page booklet containing insightful historical essays by Kevin Howlett. Mastered and cut at Abbey Road Studios, the set features a combination of stereo and original mono mixes (specifically Love Me Do, She Loves You, I’ll Get You, and You Know My Name are presented in mono to match their definitive original releases). The vinyl faces beautifully replicate the iconic Parlophone black-and-yellow labels for the early material and the classic Apple Records labels for the later era.
